Interior finishes and an outdoor structure place different demands on materials and detailing. This project brought both kinds of work together.
02 / Step by step
Phase 1
At the founder’s own home, the bedroom, children’s room and hallway upstairs were renewed. Flooring, ceilings and paint finishes were addressed together.
Working on the rooms and hallway together connects their finishes.
Phase 2
Flooring, ceiling and paint finishes form the interior package. The junctions between them shape how each room reads as a whole. The interior work and veranda form separate stages within the renovation.
Flooring, paint and ceiling finishes shape a room together. Their junctions become particularly visible when the work is finished. Planning them as one whole helps those elements relate to each other.
Phase 3
Outside, an approximately 6 × 2.5 metre veranda with a tiled floor added a space for outdoor living alongside the interior renovation. Outdoor conditions differ from the rooms: water, edges and connection with the house need their own detailing.
The approximately 6 × 2.5 metre veranda with a tiled floor forms the outdoor part. Exterior materials and junctions face different conditions from interiors. Drainage and junctions therefore deserve separate attention in the design.
