Radu and Marinela wanted to make better use of the available space and height. Existing floor heating needed care around the new partitions, while the bathroom and floor choices evolved during the project.

02 / Step by step

The project in phases

Phase 1

Creating rooms and storage

We are building partitions with stone wool and double boarding, plus a new ceiling with light storage above. The junction with the existing heated floor is carefully prepared. The upper space is storage, not an additional habitable floor.

Why this matters

The partitions need to suit the existing floor and the intended use of the rooms.

Phase 2

Adapting the bathroom plan

The original walk-in shower was replaced in the plan by a 170 × 70 cm bathtub and a niche. We are adapting water and waste lines and preparing the sanitary connections. Drain ventilation uses an air-admittance valve; room ventilation connects to the existing duct.

A different bathroom layout changes the positions of the hidden services too.

Phase 3

Flooring, electrics and finishes

The flooring choice changed to click laminate, with the second bedroom floor also being redone. New circuits are provided for the water heater and dryer, while the washer connection moves. Remaining waterproofing, tiling, plaster and paint finishes follow the service work.
