Martijn wanted one pattern continuing through several rooms, requiring a prepared base and a layout that works at doorways and edges.

02 / Step by step

The project in phases

Phase 1

Preparing the base

We prepared and primed the cement-based substrate for bonding. The client supplied the parquet and skirting; we carried out installation with the necessary adhesives.

Why this matters

Parquet and adhesive need to suit the condition of the base.

Phase 2

Herringbone through several rooms

Approximately 50 m² of 15 mm engineered parquet was laid in herringbone. The pattern continues between hall, living/dining space and bedroom without separate transition strips between those rooms.

Why this matters

A continuous pattern needs its alignment considered beyond a single room.

Phase 3

Skirting and junctions

We installed the client-supplied skirting and finished the junctions, completing the transition from patterned floor to walls. The work took place in December 2025.

Why this matters

Edges and doorways form part of the overall floor, even when less noticeable than the pattern.
