Jill & Job’s house renovation in Nijmegen

Jill and Job’s layout needed structural work, floor preparation and finishes. During the project, the flooring choice changed and the work expanded to custom joinery and the roof terrace.

02 / Step by step

The project in phases

Phase 1

The opening and services

We formed the structural opening with an HEA160 beam and prepared the kitchen and toilet. New service routes and an expanded three-phase ABB installation provided the connections, including lighting and extra kitchen points.

Why this matters

The new layout also needs to work behind the walls.

Phase 2

A level OSB base

The original plan for a new pine floor changed. Instead, we installed 18 mm OSB to prepare the base and transitions. The toilet floor received additional reinforcement. A final timber floor and upstairs carpet were outside our package.

Why this matters

A usable base needs to suit the finish that follows.

Phase 3

Custom joinery and colour

We made twelve shelves and a narrow plywood toilet cabinet, adjusted doors and finished stairs, joinery, ceilings and walls in several colours. The toilet received a small-format tile pattern. Lighting and connections were coordinated with the joinery.

Why this matters

Custom joinery needs room for fixings, practical use and connections from the outset.

Phase 4

Renewing the roof terrace

We removed the old decking and supports and prepared the roof base. A new timber support structure and spaced deck boards were installed over EPDM protection pads. The package covered the deck, not new guardrails.

Why this matters

Deck supports need to meet the roof without unnecessarily stressing or damaging its covering.
